The Discomfort Zone is a multi-media installation taking place in the disused squash court at the Whitstable Waterfront. It has been devised and created by artist Sadie Hennessy, who specialises in creating site-specific art events in unusual places. The Discomfort Zone is an immersive subversion of a cosy living room. It rubs away at the veneer of comfortable domesticity, and finds the awkward, scratchy stuff that lies beneath. Come and get comfortable - if you can!

Sadie Hennessy is a Whitstable-based artist. She trained at Dartington College of Arts (BA Hons) specialising in theatre writing for non-theatre spaces. After a short-but-intense career as a TV producer, and a long-but-intense stint of motherhood (ongoing), she went on to gain an MA in Fine Art at Central St Martins. Her MA show 'Accident & Emergency' won the Jealous Graduate Art Prize and a collection of prints from the show were bought for the UAL collection. She also has prints, created in collaboration with Jealous Gallery, in the V&A Print Collection. She was Screen Print Fellow at The Royal Academy between 2016-19.
